Anez Consulting, Inc. is a family owned and operated independent engineering and consulting firm located in Willmar, Minnesota. Founded in 1997, Anez now serves clients over 25 counties in Minnesota and numerous counties in Wisconsin, North and South Dakotas. Anez Consulting, Inc. was the vision of Jared and Kami Anez, having both grown up surrounded by agriculture. They were looking to create a company with a focus on teamwork and quality while remaining family oriented. With deep roots in agriculture, Anez Consulting has now evolved and branched out to include Engineering services as well as Environmental Compliance, Permitting and GIS mapping services. Jared passed away unexpectedly in March 2017 and Kami stepped into the position of President. Jared’s brother Tom, who has worked in various roles at the company for the past 10 years, has stepped up to become Operations Manager.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of Anez Consulting is to provide the best source of accurate, unbiased information to advocate for our clients in achieving their production, economic and family goals. Further, we will utilize our strengths of creativity, communication, and a proactive attitude to be effective problem solvers, as well as representing our clients by developing a leadership role as a positive voice for agriculture.
Kami Anez recently stepped into the role as President of Anez Consulting. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree as well as a Crop Professional Certificate through Purdue University. She recently received her Technical Service Provider (TSP) Certification to complete Integrated Pest Management Plans and is working on her TSP certification for Nutrient Management Plans through the NRCS.
Kami grew up on a farm outside of Valley City, ND. She attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, where she met her husband, Jared. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from NDSU in 1994. She then completed a residency program from the University of Minnesota specializing in geriatric medicine. Today Kami is busy running the business that she and her late husband built together and raising six wonderful children. She is active in the community and her church and is passionate about following her children to their activities, including 4H, Wrestling, Running, Dance and more. Kami is also an author and will have her first children’s book released in November of 2018.
Jared grew up on a crop and livestock farm near Little Falls, MN. He was a Minnesota State Pork Ambassador in 1991. Jared went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from North Dakota State University at Fargo in 1993. After graduation he worked as a Livestock Production Specialist for Land O’Lakes Feed in Cottonwood, MN until 1996. Anez Consulting was founded in 1997 in Willmar MN and now serves clients from over 25 counties in Minnesota and numerous counties in Wisconsin, North and South Dakotas. Jared passed away unexpectedly in March 2017, having been president of the company for the past 20 years. He was heavily involved in the agriculture community and church.
Tom joined Anez Consulting in 2008 in the field assisting with agronomy (Precision Ag) before becoming a GIS Specialist and learning AutoCAD drafting under Jared’s direction. Upon Jared’s passing in 2017, he stepped up to the position of Operations Manager and is committed to carrying on the legacy that his brother Jared worked so hard to build.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resources from the University of Minnesota and worked in a variety of roles including Forestry Specialist, Ecological Classification Systems Leader, Wildland Firefighter and Forest Inventory and GIS Mapping. Growing up on a swine farm near Little Falls as well as his past experience working on a dairy farm and work experience in agronomy, soil and crop consulting and natural resources education, Tom provides the Anez team with valuable expertise.
Tom is an avid outdoorsman enjoying time cutting and splitting wood as well as fishing and other outdoor recreational activities with his wife and son.
Office Manager / Accountant
Steph is our office manager and assists with accounting, human resources, marketing, GIS and day to day operations. She grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota and lives in Richmond with her husband Pete. Together they have five grown children which they enjoy traveling with, hanging out at their cabin and golfing.
Engineering / Permitting Consultant
David Plagge joined Anez Consulting as an Engineering/Permitting Consultant. He provides design and drafting services in support of construction projects, on-site testing and inspection services, air dispersion modeling in support of Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAWs), as well as permitting support. David is a graduate of Dunwoody College and has 17 years of experience in all phases of commercial and residential land development and construction, from Phase I Environmental Assessments and surveying, to permitting, design and construction. Prior to joining Anez, he performed engineering and environmental permitting and compliance duties for commercial and industrial facilities. Responsibilities included preparation and certification of Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Facility Response Plans (FRP), Emergency Response Action Plans (ERAP), preparation of air permit applications, development of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), coordination and documentation of engineering and compliance stack testing, preparation and submittal of Green House Gas Inventories, performing air dispersion modeling in support of air permit applications and Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. David lives with his wife and three children in Maynard and enjoys time with his family when not at work.
Ag Nutrient Consultant
Jeff was born and raised on a grain and livestock farm near Kerkhoven and spent several years in production. His background includes many years in swine genetic sales and a time with the National Pork Producers / Minnesota Pork Producers working with the Strategic Investment Program. He is a past president of the Minnesota Pork Producers and a current member. Jeff assists producers with their Manure Management Plans, Feedlot Permitting, EQIP programs and works with the Real Time Ag software program to assist producers in ensuring that nutrient application records are kept in compliance with State and Federal regulations. He is a Construction Storm Water Inspector and has a Type IV applicators certificate for Industrial Bi-Products.
Suzie is our office assistant. She grew up on a dairy farm in rural Pennock and currently farms with her husband, Mike, raising corn and soybeans. Suzie previously worked at a public accounting firm in Willmar doing payrolls and monthly bookkeeping. Outside of work Suzie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.
Brent grew up on a grain and livestock farm near Clarkfield, MN and recently graduated from North Dakota State University in the Fall of 2017, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Brent will be assisting the Anez Engineering crew with surveying, manure storage design and construction materials testing of both concrete and soils. Brent recently passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in September, and is working towards to become a PE.
When not working, Brent enjoys playing with his active and very independent dog, Dakota.
Ag nutrient technician
Kristi relocated to Willmar after graduating from South Central College in Mankato with an Associate’s Degree in Agronomy Ag Business Service and Management. She grew up on a crop and hog farm just North of Truman MN.
Kristi mainly works on the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) with Anez. She assists producers in understanding, executing and complying with the enhancements they have chosen for their CSP contracts. She has also been working on creating Nutrient and Pest Management Plans required by the NRCS for new/renewal CSP contracts. Kristi is also very involved in manure management and is a Type IV operator for land application of industrial b-products.
When not at work she spends much of her time participating in local theater events, perusing music, and milking cows at her fiancé’s farm near Svea.
Gabe is an Engineering Technician with Anez Consulting. He grew up in Willmar, MN and graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics. Gabe will be assisting Anez Consulting Engineering Department in ensuring a quality design will be given to our client. He works with Plan Drafting, Surveying, and Materials Testing.
When not working Gabe enjoys spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, helping on his uncle’s farm, and gardening.
Paula is our project coordinator and assists with feedlot permitting and manure management plans. She was raised on a dairy farm near Atwater MN and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in Business Management & Finance. Prior to joining Anez Consulting, she managed a benchmarking program for the renewable fuels industry, worked in sales and customer service for various companies, provided project management for a risk solutions company and has experience in the banking/lending industry.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and their grown daughters and families. She also enjoys kickboxing, fitness, gardening, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
Michael Nelson, P.E.
Engineering / Senior Project Engineer
Mike grew up on a dairy farm near Sebeka, MN and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Michael joined Anez Consulting as a Senior Project Engineer in August of 2018. He has 24 years of experience in all phases of municipal, commercial and residential land development, from surveying, to permitting, design and construction. Mike is a Technical Service Provider (TSP) for NRCS and EQIP projects in Manure and Wastewater Handling and Storage.
Mike lives with his wife in Richmond, MN and enjoys time with his family and four children when not at work.
